Hi,I'm new here and I want to know if you can live decently of gambling like how you see it on tv.I don't know a lot about the real world so that is why I prepared 6 questions for each users from here.I would be happy if you could write this answers as an essay or short essay.
1)Do you play these games as a hobby or as a career?(Honestly I believed that players do it for the money and not for the colour of the cards or the psychology of others)
2)Why didn't anyone warned me that gambling is not for immature people?(like myself because when I entered the forum no one warned me that these games are for those who have a passion in investing these money in bussiness)
3)Can you make a living from bets?(including sport bets)
4)How much math does a person need to understand the nature of gambling?(I saw some books about strategies and they involved some calculus but I have no idea if you're going to use that because I've never played or made profit from gambling)
5)What is so great about gambling and betting(beside winning and losing)What's the essence that hides inside these games?
6)What happens when an immature person decides to enter gambling?Are they awaken in the real world?

Winning i sports betting is not easy. What you see in tv is just propaganda funded by casinos/sportsbooks. Most of those guys in those shows don't make money from winning, they get paid to act and they get paid from the books to refer people to them and they get commission from all the losses. Over 99% of sports bettors are life time losing bettors. The 1% win know its a grind with methodology. I recommend reading this article: How to win at sports betting

Tough Living

Only about 1.5% of gamblers make money on sports betting never mind a living. It is a difficult thing to do. It is not difficult because it is impossible to learn how to win but it is difficult because it require discipline and a control of emotions which most bettors lack. If you want to earn a part time income from sports betting and lack the sports handicapping knowledge just search this forum and other forums. Look for the members who not only post their won lost record but pay attention concerning if they are winning money. Take me for instance. In MLB I usually have a high percentage of winning but my bets are usually on -130 or above which requires a high winning percentage. My approach usually produces favorites (known as chalk bets) . So I require a higher winning percent then the usually required winning percent of 60-65% for profits. It is a tough industry. I have made money on MLB 9 out of the last 10 years.

All this said, in my retirement I have become a professional roulette player which the uninformed gambler will tell you that this is impossible to make money on never mind a living. I do make a nice living on Roulette but it requires a lot of study much more then sports betting.

I'm referring to sports gambling...Number one I would never rely any type of gambling for a living as your main source of income....that is a ridiculous thought. But, as a source of steady extra income it is definitely possible to achieve. I'd say 90% of gamblers have horrible money management and wager too many games on a given day therefore lowering substantially their odds of making money. When it comes to following paying services I do not recommend bouncing around the forums playing dozens of services' plays that is a disaster waiting to happen. Been there done that it gets nowhere in the long run but losing. BUT, if you do your research and follow 1-2 at most consistently you will find success. Many look at sports gambling as a daily or even weekly thing...it is so not! All gamblers/services lose and have losing streaks! All of them! Many will jump ship after losing streaks and move on to the next. If you find a proven service that wins honestly long term stay with them through an entire season through the ups and downs. Do not jump around from service to service. It's all about having a specific bank roll set aside for a specific sports season and setting a wager amount and finding those 1-2 services you will ride for the season. Same thing using your own systems and strategies...if you have some that you know win long term same thing don't jump ship after losing streaks. Stick with what wins long term. For many years it was difficult to understand any of that and I lost a lot and didn't understand why...but figuring these little tips out over time it has helped tremendously with making consistent money at sports gambling. Discipline is absolutely key to this whole thing and staying with a certain game plan for specific sports seasons. You have to treat it like a business. Many sports services are BS....I've noticed the ones that do the whole 1 play a day thing are the most fraud ones out there. Stay away from those. That's my 2 cents

1) Hobby for me. Something to provide a rush considering my day job is a boring office job.
2) No one warned you because we are all looking for the next winner. We are not thinking about the beginner that is just trying to learn what to do. There are articles and books for you. You'll have to learn from experience like we did.
3) I don't know of anyone that wins consistently at sports betting. I suspect it is possible but I don't have the discipline to bet only the games I am supremely confident about. I like too much action (i.e., I bet too many games).
4) The math is quite basic. If you risk an average of 10% juice (i.e., risk $110 to win $100), you need to win 11 bets for every 10 you lose (52.4%) to break even (and that means all bets the same size and no parlays or teasers).
5) Sports betting seems like easy money to big sports fans. It is an interesting challenge.
6) An immature person likely will get quickly frustrated with the losing and quit, which would be a much better alternative than becoming addicted and ruining your life. Only risk what you can afford to lose.

For me gambling is a way of life. Every decision in our lives can be expressed like a bet. For example if we buy a house and not insure it, it is like betting against an earthquake or storm of fire. We lay some extreme event to occur. So imo, every person is a gambler but most of them do not understand that. Look, I don’t understand why to look for some goals ... These are just games and this is created for people to have fun. In my opinion, you shouldn't complicate everything. I knew a lot of people who set themselves the goal of becoming rich in gambling, but in the end they lost everything and this taught me to take this a little easier and not consider that it could change my life. I play in different casinos and I try to just have fun and not even think about winning ... It's difficult, but you have to learn.
